Group Exhibition in Michigan

I had this amazing opportunity to be a part of the group exhibition, " Into the Woods and Through the Veil", curated by Jesse Gregg, at the C.O.D.A Gallery in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

'Where There Here' will be screened at the BAICFF: Bay Area International Children's Film Festival on Jan. 26th,  in Oakland, California.

Dream sequence

I decided to keep the dream sequence very simple with a focus on lines, different from other sequences with heavy usage of colors and textures.

Whisper campaign for P & G

We worked on an online campaign for P & G's Whisper (feminine product).
The production time was very tight: but thanks to our crew, we were able to finish about 3 min. animation within 3 weeks. We will make an edit of the portfolio version and share here soon.

Here are some images of visual development and final film.

'Dexter' web episodes pitch spec work

Back in 2010, we were asked to pitch for the animated web series of a big hit Showtime drama 'Dexter'.
We didn't get the project, but it was a nice change to work on something more dark and serious, compare to our usual light-hearted designs.
I worked with two talented artists, Steve Eat & Alex Rico, who did such amazing jobs!
It was disappointing that we didn't get to showcase these wonderful artwork to the public...
So here they are!

Soyeon's films at the Poppy Jasper Film Festival

'Father and Sister' and 'Transparent Movement' have been selected for the Poppy Jasper Film Festival (Nov. 12-14, Morgan Hill, California)

I am very honored to announce that 'Father and Sister' was chosen as the Top 10 films of the Festival, by Morgan Hill Times.  Here is the excerpt from the article:

"Father and Sister: Soyeon Kim's creative media film tells an O'Henry story using very basic but beautifully drawn animation. This 5-minute stained-glass window gem considers how a series of coincidences inside a church leads two religious people to find romance. "
